History of National University of Skills (NUS) The formal system of “National University of skills” in Iran began in 1907 right after the establishment of the Iran-Germany vocational school in Tehran. It was named “Technical and Vocational University”. In 1984 The Ministry of Education and Growth took the responsibility and established the Institute of Technology in Tehran and almost 30 branches in other industrial cities. By 1996 the education system in Iran developed and the institutes were promoted to colleges that would offer associate's and bachelor's degrees to vocational school graduates. In 2011 Technical and Vocational Colleges and Faculties officially departed from the Ministry of Education and Growth and affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology under the name of Technical and Vocational University (TVU) and as the only state university took the clear mandate for academic vocational education and training in Iran. TVU aiming for being a third-generation university, started its mission as a skill-based, and demands-driven university with over 170 faculties and colleges in about 120 cities across the country. these programs offer various courses, and only 0 of them are held theoretically in classes while almost all is instructed practically at numerous well-equipped laboratories and workrooms. The name was changed from “Technical and Vocational University” to “National University of Skill” in 2024.
